it's sad when a very good and experienced player pops up to give free advise to us PvP wannabes, aka RA players, and all he gets in return is flames and bull **** :\
come on, give the guy a break, he's trying to do us all a favour, if you wanna listen to him or not is entirely your choice, but if you want to actually get better at GW PvP than I recommend listening to him
Jeydra, thank you for your post here and your other nice posts in other threads on these forums, hopefuly enough people listen to them to make your efforts worth while.

It's because he's a random, with a pompous thread title giving borderline questionable/obvious advice. If it was presented better I doubt you'd see that response.

I'm pretty sure the spartans had massive shields.

Using PvE shields also helps to differentiate the damage reductions.

It'd be easier to tell what class he is if he wore some actual armor.
But the fact that he wears an actual helmet would suggest warrior.

I don't recall Awowa ever using cast sets unless he needed them for energy, and I remember lego using a shield + wand as his normal set, the only person in rawr I remember to actually swap for casts consistently was Asp when he played BSurge and Pounds sitting in her staff.
Since mesmers got nerfed (PLeak) and turret rangers (and rend) kinda took their place cast sets definitely lost a lot of value (no need to worry about PBlock), but it also depends on the team build imo, a build like rawr's or nH's can get a monk elite DShot regularly without getting into real trouble, builds that are more focused on (shutdown)pressure or split don't always have this luxury.
As for the 'turret rangerless' comment, I've seen quite a lot of turret rangers around since the update still, they got toned down sure, but they still seem quite viable.
